The Devil Had a Sale
We are an emotional species. Our emotions and feelings cause use to take every action that we make daily. For some, they understand this, however for many, they don’t.
They live in a constant state of reaction. One where they see the results and then react to the results. This method of existence is actually backwards, as everything that we have in our lives is a result of the choices that we made, the actions that we took, and that all started from the emotions that we were feeling when made the choices.
So what is so important about the understanding our feeling? What is so vital to learning how to read ourselves so that we know we are on the correct path to our goals?
The great Earl Nightingale has a recording call the “The Good” and in it is a fable that highlights the point that I am sharing with you today.
The story goes that Satan was having a sale of his wares. On display, and offered for sale, were the rapier of jealousy, the dagger of fear, and the strangling noose of hatred, each with its own high price.
But standing alone on a purple pedestal was a worn and battered wedge. This was the devil’s most prized possession, for with it alone he could stay in business. It was not for sale … it was the wedge of discouragement.
Why do you suppose the devil valued so highly, and actually would not sell, the worn and battered wedge of discouragement? Makes you think doesn’t it?
He prized discouragement because of its enfeebling, demoralizing effect. Hatred, fear or jealousy may lead an immature person to act unwisely, to fight, or to run. But at least they act. Discouragement on the other hand, hurts the person more than any of these. It causes the person to sit down, pity himself or herself and do nothing.
Now this doesn’t have to happen, but unfortunately it all too frequently does. Not until we realize that discouragement is often a form of self pity, do we begin to take stock of ourselves and our predicament and decide to act … to do something that will take us out of the unpleasant situation.
The answer to discouragement then is intelligent action. Get rid of discouragement before it gets rid of you. The devil might not survive without this priceless wedge … but we can.

The MLM industry for many is frustrating to say the least! They start with a new MLM business opportunity with the right intentions and they feel they have the best of what they need to be successful, yet so many people quit. They quit out of frustration, from too much rejection and bottom line, they aren’t making any money.
To say that the MLM industry is a scam is completely off and untrue. Yes there are “opportunities” that pretend to be legitimate, but as we all know, time exposes those that are not who they say they are. No the MLM industry is success and flourishing even in these slower economic times. Instead of looking at the industry you have to look at the people in the business and what they are doing.
The successful individuals who are involved in MLM and making living doing it understand the principle that I’m about to share with you. They know that it works because they are using it every day to build their business. In fact I’d go so far as to say that they knew that it worked even before they used it in their MLM business. They instinctively knew that it would work; you know why? It’s because it’s how they would want to be treated too.
They don’t sell their business! They don’t sell their products! That’s right the two staples of what every successful MLM professional has to do – sell the business and sell the products, is something that the successful MLM’er don’t do! Instead they share and more importantly, they connect with their prospects first and from their they let the prospect sell themselves on the business and the products.
This may sound like I’m splitting hairs but there is a huge difference between selling someone on an idea and suggesting and idea. If you’ve seen the Leonardo DiCaprio Inception you understand the power the of an idea. While this is a fictional movie, the concept of the power of an idea is not fictitious. It is this principle that successful MLM’ers do when they share their business opportunity or products.
They connect with their prospects first. The listen and understand what their prospect needs then they suggest what might help. That is if they are talking about ways to fund their children’s college education, they may work it into the conversation that they found a way to do just that. Their curiosity in how they can solve their dilemma will cause them to ask the question “How?”
This opens the door to sharing the MLM business opportunity in a professional manner. What is even more important than this is that because the prospect asked to the question “How” they are that much more interested in what you have to say. The exact same principle is used with products as well.
Connecting with you prospects instead of selling them on MLM is critical. While at first glance it may appear to be such a trivial difference, when you see the difference in results you will understand how vastly different they are!

Yes the title of this post is correct and this is not a post about any lottery winnings either. This is about how the average individual, such as me or you, can get our share of a 154 billion dollar industry.
This isn’t something that has just happened over night and this will continue to grow, as it has for the past 70 years. This $154 billion that I’m talking about, it’s an annualized amount. This amount of business is conducted each and every year, and on a global scale.

Well speaking from personal experience, the best thing to do is get a professional to help you. Sounds strange, but it’s the truth. If you need your car fixed where do you go – a professional mechanic. Teeth cleaned – a professional dentist. Build a global MLM organization – a professional MLM’er.
Yes they exist and the right ones are out there to help you too. You just need to find them. For me, I did that while I was still an engineer in the automotive industry and through relying on their services, I was able to transition out of what I was doing, and myself become a full-time MLM’er.
